Process Mining
What is a good process to start with
To begin with, a suitable existing process can be any Dispatcher-Performer setup that consists of at least two automations linked by a Queue and that is transaction-based. The Performer should carry out multiple logical steps within the workflow and feature various branches.
By utilizing both Implicit Tracking and Explicit Tracking, you will gain a clear understanding of how Process Tracking works. Additionally, you will obtain a valuable process graph through the Process Optimization app.
Recommendation for Explicit Tracking:
-
If each queue transaction represents a different instance of the process, surround the Add Queue Item activity with a Process Tracking Scope and track a Task in a New Trace. This will track a Task in a new Trace for each queue item added, ensuring that every queue item—and thus each transaction—receives a unique Trace ID.
-
Track the queue item details as Object in Process tracking service.
-
Surround each important business logical step from "Process" Workflow with "Process Tracking scope" and track the Task in the current trace. This will track each of these steps as separate Tasks in the same Trace.
Document Understanding Framework is a Long Running Workflow with multiple Actions. Each Classification and Extraction Validation Tasks will be captured as a different Task in the Process Optimization app, creating a process graph showing how the documents were processed.
Recommendation for Explicit Tracking:
-
If each group of documents is a different instance, make sure to add "Process Tracking Scope" and track a Task in a New Trace wherever the documents are added to the queue.
-
Wrap Classify, Extract, Export and End Process workflows in Process Tracking Scope and track the tasks in the current Trace.
-
Track each document type as Objects in the Process Tracking Service.
