Save Excel File As

UiPath.Excel.Activities.Business.SaveExcelFileAsX

Note: This activity was first introduced in the UiPath.Excel.Activities v2.9.0-preview activities package.

Saves a workbook added to the project or the Project Notebook as a different file. You can specify the file name and the Excel file type to save as.

The activity can be used with an Excel file selected for a parent Use Excel File activity or with the Project Notebook.

Configuring the Activity

In the Body of the Activity
  • Workbook - Click Plus docs image on the right side of the field and then, from the menu, select the Excel workbook to save. Alternatively, you can select Open in Advanced Editor and enter a VB expression.
  • Save as type - Select the type of Excel file to save as: Excel Workbook (.xlsx), Excel Binary Workbook (.xlsb), Excel Macro Enabled Workbook (.xlsm), or Excel 97-2003 Workbook (.xls).
  • Save as file - Click Browse next to the field, and then browse to the folder where to save the file and enter the file name. Alternatively, you can indicate the full path of the file to save as by using one of the options in the Plus menu on the right side of the field:

    • Data from the Project Notebook, a parent Excel file or Outlook account. For example, select an Excel file, and then select a cell that contains a file path.
    • Use Saved Value - Select a value in the form of a file path that you previously saved for later use in the project.
    • Text - Enter a file path in the Text Builder.
    • Ask when run - Prompt for a file path when the project is executed.
    • Paste from clipboard - Paste a value in the form of a file path that you previously copied to the clipboard in the project..
    • Open in Advanced Editor - Enter a VB expression.
  • Replace existing - If selected, the new file replaces any existing file with the same name. If not selected, an error occurs if a file with the same name already exists. This option is selected by default.

  • DisplayName - The name displayed for the activity in the Designer panel.

Input

  • See the options in the body of the activity.

Misc

  • Private - If selected, the values of variables and arguments are no longer logged at Verbose level.
