Robot units calculus example

This example demonstrates how to calculate robot units requirements for different types of cloud robots (VM and Serverless) across three tenants within an organization. It considers number of machines, usage time, and robot units rates for each type of cloud robot. The total cost is calculated for a Production environment.

Let's understand the consumption meter for cloud robots:

  • Automation Cloud™ Robots - VM: These machines consume a fixed number of robot units per month per machine. In this example, one VM Standard machine consumes 6,000 robot units/month.

  • Automation Cloud™ Robots - Serverless: These machines consume robot units based on their estimated duration and machine size. The cost is calculated per minute. In this example, a Medium serverless machine consumes 4 platform units/minute.

  • One Automation Cloud™ Robots - Serverless Medium machine needs 4 robot units/min

  • VM: 2 x 6,000 = 12,000 robot units/month

  • Serverless: 600 x 4 =2,400 robot units/month

  • Total: 14,400 robot units/month

Tenant 2

  • 1 x Automation Cloud™ Robots - VM Standard machines

  • One Automation Cloud™ Robots - VM Standard machine needs 6,000 robot units/month.

  • VM: 1 x 6,000 = 6,000 robot units/month

  • Total: 6,000 robot units/month

Tenant 3

  • 5 x Automation Cloud™ Robots - Serverless machine

    • Estimated duration: 180 minutes (3 hours) daily on business days

    • Machine size: Medium

  • One Automation Cloud™ Robots - Serverless Medium machine needs 4 platform units/min

Because the number of business days in a month varies, we consider the maximum number of 23 business days:

  • Serverless: 23 x 180 x 4 =16,560 robot units/month

  • Total: 16,560 robot units/month

Organization

  • 3 x Automation Cloud™ Robots - VM Standard machines

  • 6 x Automation Cloud™ Robots - Serverless machine

    • Estimated duration: 600 (permonth)+180 minutes (per day, for 23 days)

    • Machine size: Medium

  • One Automation Cloud™ Robots - VM Standard machine needs 6,000 platform units/month.

  • One Automation Cloud™ Robots - Serverless Medium machine needs 4 platform units/min

Cost for all tenants: 14,400 + 6,000 + 16,560

Total requirement for organization: 36,960 robot units/ month
