Viewing traces

You can view a trace to see how one iteration of the task was performed by a single user.

  1. From a variant, select a trace and the diagram is refreshed to see the steps from the selected trace.



Viewing trace details

Follow this step to view trace details.

  1. Select Trace # Details to display the trace details.

Trace details
Below is a description of the metrics.

Metric

Description

Time

The execution time of the trace.

User

The name of the recording user.

Steps

The number of steps in the trace.

Actions

The number of actions (screenshots) in the trace.

Applications

The number of applications recorded in the trace.

Note:

You can select Applications to expand the list of applications.

Slideshow

The slideshow provides a visual replay of the selected trace. Selecting the slideshow, lets you see Action ID, and browse through the steps to see the changes and how many actions to steps were performed.

Deleting a screenshot in a trace

If a screenshot is not relevant to your trace, you can delete it from the slideshow.

Follow these steps to delete a screenshot.

  1. While browsing a trace, in the slideshow section, stop at the desired screenshot.
  2. Hover over the screenshot and in the upper right corner, select the bin icon.


Note:

The screenshot is deleted without a notification. After deletion, the screenshot cannot be recovered.

Excel in traces

With the unified recorder, you can populate information or insight into how you are completing actions within Excel. This way you gain insight on exactly where is it possible to automate within Excel actions.

In the visualizer, you can now have data for workbook titles where actions were performed. This helps you in having the workbook name clearly populated in your trace.

The same also applies to sheet name within the same workbook.
Excel in traces
Copying and pasting data between sheets in Excel is supported and recorded for a more clearer view o the actions performed.

The most common scenarios of copying and pasting through clipboard are the following:

  • Copy and paste within sheet to move data around.

  • Copy and paste within workbook across sheets to move data around.

  • Copy data into excel from another application.

  • Copy date from excel into another application.

Export traces

Once the repetitive tasks and the representative traces are identified, you can export your trace to:

  • Advance business process documentation by exporting the task as a Process description document using Process description document (.docx) selection.

  • Accelerate your starting point for building automations with Automation skeleton (.xaml) export.

  • Assess data with different applications to have a better overview on your project with export to Raw data (.csv).

  • Evaluate idea potential and collaborate on its implementation inAutomation Hub.

Select Export, and select the needed export option.



Favorite traces

Follow these steps to mark a trace as favorite.

  1. Expand the variant and locate the trace you want to mark as favorite.

  2. Select the icon.

You can select several traces from different variants as favorites. The selected traces will be available for quick access from the Favorites tab.

Removing a trace from Favorites

Follow these steps to remove a trace from the Favorites list.

  1. Locate the trace you want to remove.

  2. Select the Favorites icon icon.

The trace will no longer be accessible from the Favorites tab.
