Creating dashboards

Introduction

The dashboard editor enables you to create new dashboards and add these to your process app.

Creating a new dashboard

Follow these steps to create a new dashboard.

  1. Select the More icon More icon in the Custom dashboards section.

  2. Select Add dashboard from the context menu. A new dashboard labeled New dashboard is added to the menu.

  3. In the Select a layout panel, select a template layout for your dashboard.

  4. Enter a name for the new dashboard in the Dashboard name field.

  5. Select the KPIs you want to be displayed at the top of the new dashboard.

  6. If desired, add dashboard level filters.

  7. Add the charts to the dashboards.

Check out Dashboards and Charts for more information.

Creating a custom layout for the dashboard

You can modify any selected template layout to suit your business needs and specific requirements. You can apply the changes you make to a custom layout for that particular dashboard.

You can add additional charts by splitting the chart placeholders horizontally or vertically, and you can delete charts using the dashboard layout tools. The following illustration shows the available dashboard layout tools.

The following table describes the dashboard layout tools.

Dashboard layout tool

Description

Split vertically icon

Allows you to split the chart vertically into two separate charts that are side by side.

Split horizontally icon

Allows you to split the chart horizontally into two separate charts with one above the other.

Delete chart icon

Allows you to remove the chart.

Note:

Removing a chart automatically rearranges the remaining charts to use the free space on the dashboard.

When you make any changes to the template dashboard layout, a custom layout tile is added to the Select a layout panel. The following illustration shows the custom layout tile.

When you are finished with the customization and satisfied with the dashboard layout, select the Apply button to save the changes to the custom layout.
Note:

A custom layout applies only to the current dashboard. You can create a unique custom layout for each individual dashboard.

Selecting a different layout for the dashboard

You can select a different layout for the dashboard you created. Follow these steps to select a different layout for the dashboard.

  1. Select the dashboard for which you want to select a different layout.
  2. Select the Change layout button in the Edit dashboard panel.

The different layout options are displayed and the current layout is highlighted.

  3. Select the new layout for your dashboard.
Note: Only the layout options that are applicable for the current available charts on the dashboard are enabled. You can either select a different layout, or remove one or more charts before selecting a different layout.

Hiding or showing dashboards

If you are working on a dashboard and you do not want to show the dashboard in the published process app (yet), you can hide the dashboard.

Follow these steps to hide a dashboard from a published process app.

  1. Select the dashboard that you want to hide.
  2. Select the Hide dashboard in app icon in the Edit dashboard panel.

In the menu at the left it is indicated that the dashboard will not be visible in the published process app.

Note: The Hide dashboard from app icon is a toggle. You can click on it again to make the dashboard visible.

Removing a dashboard

Follow these steps to remove a dashboard from the menu.

Select the dashboard in the menu on the left and select the Remove dashboard icon Remove dashboard icon.

You can also select the Remove dashboard icon Remove dashboard icon in the Edit dashboard panel at the right.

Remove dashboard is not available when there is only one dashboard.

Note: The dashboard is removed from the menu without a notification message. When you remove a dashboard, all the charts on the dashboard are also removed.
