Detect and merge same-screen actions

Introduction

After a capture process finishes, Task Capture offers to detect actions per all documents that contain similar screenshots and offers to merge them.

Merging process

The merging process is done in two ways:

Automatically

  1. Task Capture offers to detect similar screenshots, and Detect button should be selected.

  2. After analyzing all the actions, a result shows how many actions with similar screenshots were detected. Here, you can Review Detected or Merge All Detected.
  3. Selecting Merge All Detected merges similar screenshots, and a notification toast pops up automatically at the bottom-right side informs about successful merging.

Manually

  1. Task Capture offers to detect similar screenshots, and Detect button should be selected.
  2. After analyzing all the actions, a result shows how many actions with similar screenshots were detected. Here, you can Review Detected or Merge All Detected.
  3. Selecting Review Detected shows the sequences that contain similar actions and walkthrough the actions list to select and merge desired ones.

    Note:

If you want to later detect or merge the images, this can be done by selecting:

    a. Edit > Detect same-screen actions

    b. Edit > Merge all same-screen actions

To merge actions into a single specific group, you press the Ctrl key and click the actions you wish to merge.

Note: You can merge all detected actions in the selected sequence at once by clicking Merge All button at the top-side panel of the actions list

Reviewing merged results

After a successful merge, in most cases, the last screenshot from the group will be selected as representative and all the drawings on the images as well as annotations (title, description) will be merged together.

If you wish to undo the merged actions, you can right-click the group and select Split merged actions.
