Test automation

AutopilotTM helps you to quickly create more efficient test automations in Studio Desktop. Specifically, Autopilot supports you in the following actions:

  • Automating manual tests.
  • Converting text into code.
  • Generating synthetic test data.

Automating manual tests

You can generate coded test cases from your manual tests linked from Test Manager. Autopilot uses the manual test steps and description, as well as the Object Repository, to generate a fully automated coded test case that you can use. In the Test Explorer panel, select Generate coded test case with Generative AI for the manual test that you want to automate.

Converting text into code

If you want to create a coded test case from scratch, without linking it from Test Manager, you can use the Generate code feature to generate a coded workflow, that you can later convert it into a coded test case. You can generate code from the following sources:

  • Comments - Select a comment, right-click, and choose Generate Code. Refine the generation with your prompt, then your code is generated within the automation.
  • Specific lines in your automation - Select the desired line, right-click, and then choose Generate Code. Refine the generation with your prompt, then your code is generated within the automation.
  • Custom prompts - Right-click wherever in your coded automation, and select Generate Code. Input a prompt, then your code is generated within your automation.

Generating synthetic test data

You can generate synthetic test data tailored to specific testing needs, using Autopilot. The generation process supports several argument types which you can further refine using a prompt. To generate test data using AI, select Generate with Autopilot as your test data source. Then, you can refine the data that Autopilot generated, using a prompt.
