Pasting tables with Clipboard AI

Clipboard AI integration with Autopilot for everyone allows you to perform AI-powered copy-paste operations from within the chat.

Currently, the integration allows pasting operations from tables rendered in Autopilot, in the following scenarios:

  • Prompting Autopilot to render a table from a document, such as an invoice, receipt, or purchase order, then paste the rendered data into an Excel spreadsheet.

  • Prompting Autopilot to copy data from a multi-line table, then paste the rendered data into a web form.

Accessing the Clipboard AI toolbar

The Clipboard AI toolbar offers extended functionality beyond the ones available in the chat experience.

You can access the Clipboard AI toolbar through:

  • The Paste in option under tables:

    • Paste with Mapper

    • Send to Clipboard AI

  • The Assistant launchpad tile, which opens the Clipboard AI toolbar.

Generating tables from documents

To generate a table from a document within Autopilot:

  1. In the chat box, drag and drop the document. Alternatively, use the Attach file button.
    Note:
    • You can upload PDFs or images of the document.

    • You can use the Capture screenshot or the Capture active window to automatically add the image of the document to Autopilot.

  2. Write the prompt "Extract information from this invoice.", then select Send.

Autopilot uses Document Understanding to extract text from the document and provides a summary of the extracted information.

  3. After Autopilot responds, write the prompt "Generate a table with this information."

Autopilot generates a table with the information in the invoice, and displays a Paste in button. This is where Clipboard AI steps in.

    Note:

The Paste in button displays the last active application. For example, if you were using Excel before rendering the table in Autopilot, the button shows "Paste in Excel".

Pasting information from the table to other applications

The Paste in button from the table initially displays the last active application. For example, if you were using Excel before rendering the table in Autopilot, the button shows "Paste in Excel". If you have several applications open, use the dropdown menu next to the paste button to select the application where you want to paste the table. After selecting an application from the dropdown menu, the paste selection does not change until you make another selection from the dropdown menu. For the applications to appear in the dropdown menu, they need to be running on your device and not be minimized.

Direct copy-paste operations is supported by the following applications. For the applications to

  • Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, OneNote, PowerPoint)

  • Web pages and forms (Chrome, Edge)

  • Notepad

Once you are happy with the content in the table, you can paste the information to other applications, using the integrated Clipboard AI :

  1. Select the Paste in button, and use the dropdown menu if you want to change the application where you want to paste the table.
  2. Autopilot tries to paste the table information into the designated application. Watch how your application is filled with data from the table.

Pasting in Excel

Pasting in Excel has several special requirements:

  • To copy a whole table to Excel, make sure you have a sheet open.

  • To paste into a specific Excel sheet, select it from the dropdown menu of the Paste in option.

  • If the excel sheet already has a table with headers, only the columns with the corresponding headers are pasted.

Pasting from multi-line tables into a web form

In cases where you need to fill in the same web form for multiple entries, you can use the Autopilot and Clipboard AI to assist you in copying, validating, and pasting the required data.

For this to work:

  • headers in the table must correspond with the fields in the web form.

    Note:

In case the headers do not correspond with the fields, use the Clipboard AI mapper to mitigate the association.

  • the browser window with the web form is active

To copy the information from the multi-line table to a web form using the integrated Clipboard AI:

  1. Select Paste in and select the name of the browser window with the web form.
  2. Once the values in the first row were pasted in the web form, you can submit the form. Autopilot displays the message "Row 1 was pasted" under the table.
    Important:

You must manually submit the form after every paste operation.

  3. To continue filling out the same web form with the values in the next row, select Paste next row in [Web form name].
  4. Repeat step 3 until all the entries in the table have been pasted. Autopilot displays the message "All rows have been pasted."

Using the Clipboard AI mapper

With Paste with Mapper, the Clipboard AI mapper displays the table as the copied source and the application selected in the paste menu as the target. You continue with the paste process within the mapper. Once the paste operation is complete, close the mapper.

Read more details about the Data mapper.

Sending the table to Clipboard AI

From the Paste in dropdown menu, you can select Send to Clipboard AI . This opens the entire Clipboard AI toolbar, setting the Autopilot table as the copied source.

From this point, you can paste the copied information anywhere you want using the complete Clipboard AI toolbar functionality. You are free to continue your work in Clipboard AI as if you are using a standalone app.
